Brow Lift: Regaining a Youthful Eye Area

Assessing the Need for Brow Lift

Patients seeking to address excess upper eyelid skin that obstructs their vision should undergo an evaluation of their eyebrow position. Simply removing excess upper eyelid skin without considering eyebrow position often leads to unsatisfactory long-term results. During your consultation at our clinic, we will thoroughly assess your eyebrow position. If your droopy eyelids disappear when you raise your eyebrows, a brow lift may be the ideal solution for you. Similarly, if you have undergone upper blepharoplasty in the past but are noticing droopy eyelids again, a brow lift may be the appropriate procedure to address this concern.

Brow Lift Techniques

The ideal position and shape of your eyebrows will be determined collaboratively during your examination. Various methods can be employed to lift or reshape the eyebrows. We refrain from using threads for brow lift procedures. While we have extensive experience with endoscopic brow lift techniques, we currently favor scar-minimizing subcutaneous techniques involving incisions concealed above the brow, forehead, or hairline, depending on your age, gender, hairstyle, and personal preferences. We strive to avoid forehead lifts with coronal incisions at the hairline or through the hair unless absolutely necessary, as these can result in prominent and long-lasting scars.

Combining Brow Lift with Other Procedures

We often combine brow lifts with other surgeries or treatments to enhance the overall results for our patients. These complementary procedures may include eyelid surgery and/or BOTOX® injections.

Ideal Candidates for Brow Lift

Individuals who are healthy, non-smokers, and have not experienced excessive sun exposure are likely to achieve the most long-lasting results from brow lift surgery. Realistic expectations are also crucial. The goal of brow lift is to diminish lines and wrinkles while maintaining a natural appearance.

Anesthesia for Brow Lift

Brow lift surgery is typically performed under local anesthesia. We often combine local anesthesia with other facial rejuvenation procedures to preserve a youthful balance on the face.

Brow Lift Recovery

The initial bruising and swelling that may occur after surgery typically subside by the end of the first week. Full recovery may take two to three weeks. However, after about a week to ten days, you can apply makeup to conceal any remaining bruising. You can likely resume your normal activities within this timeframe.
